How to make homemade pancakes: classic American version

The classic recipe for famous American pancakes is very simple. We love it because you end up with a thick and lightly spongy batter ideal to be served with syrup, jam, chocolate, honey, ice cream or even fruit… let your imagination run wild!

  •   150 g of wheat flour or special cake flour.
  •   1 tablespoon of sugar
  •   1 tablespoon of baking powder
  •   A pinch of salt
  •   1 glass of milk
  •   1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of butter

  •   Place the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
  •   Melt the butter. You can do this by placing it in a small glass bowl for 5-10 seconds in the microwave.
  •   In a separate bowl, mix the egg, milk and butter and whisk so they blend perfectly.
  •   Slowly pour the liquids into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix well, making sure there are no lumps.
  •   Put a non-stick frying pan on the stove at medium-high heat.
  •   Pour a little of the batter into the frying pan to make the pancakes to your desired size (not too big usually).
  • Wait for bubbles to rise to the surface, then flip the pancake and cook for another 10 seconds. Place the pancakes on a dish and cover them with a cotton cloth while making the rest.
